Our New Logo
The Borough of Newtown announces a new logo for its brand evolution. The logo will be part of a brand identity system for the Borough, to be utilized on all marketing communications moving forward. Working closely with local branding and design studio, Map Agency, Burgess Maureen Crick Owen spearheaded the project.
According to Crick Owen, “Our logo symbolizes the American flag as an integral part of our history, and our future.” Map Agency owner and creative director, John Rudolph, designed the logo as a symbolic “N” for Newtown. The five stars and stripes represent the neighborhoods of Newtown: the Borough, Botsford, Dodgingtown, Hawleyville, and Sandy Hook. “Since 1824, the Borough has been soul of Newtown,” Rudolph says, “and, at the heart of the Borough, of course, is the famous American flag. Newtown is very patriotic, and we wanted to represent the American flag in a unique and elegant way.”
Borough of Newtown Warden, Jay Maher, said the new logo is “wonderful.” For him, it captures both the past and the future, and thinks the flag design is progressive, suggesting a forward-thinking government body. Look for the logo to be featured on a new website, launching soon.
